Sugar Cookies
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/4 tsp salt
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp milk
- ½ cup shortening
Cream shortening & sugar.
Add eggs & vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients & milk.
Roll dough about 1/3" thick, cut and place on cookie sheet.
Bake on 375° for about 12 minutes.
Cookies should not be browned at all. They should be very, very light.
Frost.
Frosting
- 1 cube butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 Tbsp milk
- Food coloring
Beat together until smooth and spreadable.
Chocolate frosting: Add 1/4 cup cocoa and a pinch of salt.
